Penn International 50 Serial Number

среда 05 сентября admin 81

More than enough to fish 50#. Assuming you have a reel that has an HT 100 drag washer in it (and if it's a post say '85 reel I'm sure it does- you can check by looking at a serial number on the inside of the sideplates, near where the spool disappears into the sideplate, until you find a sequence that starts with a letter and then has 6 numbers.

Anyone know how to decode a Penn International serial number? Letter+6 numbers. Was gifted an older (early 80's i'm guessing) International, really beautiful reel. Had the handle replaced and the whole unit repacked/greased. Took the old line off which was some type of green and white checked synthetic, seemed very heavy.

Apparently this rig was used to troll and you could mark this line with a sharpie marker. I plan on using mainly for inshore tarpon and occassional trolling.

Whats the best option for me line-wise to put on this reel? I'm thinking braid, as i do not want to put new line on this reel every year, as it holds hundreds of yards. Any advice is appreciated! Any advice is appreciated! I would build a small cabinet for it and put it on display. Beautiful reel, but I would not fish it. The early 80's Penns did not have HT-100 drag washers and also is probably the 'spreader bar' version since you did not say 20T. The first 2 numbers tell you what year that reel was assembled in. If it is before '85 it is the spreader bar version and stop right there. If after '85 you can spend 2X what the reel is worth to have a one piece baker frame and 2 speeded. Still want to fish it? I would not trust it until I took it apart and changed the drag washer and other things. Load it with 50lb spectra with a mono topshot and hope for the best.
