Hey everyone, Running Beta 1 32bit. I got all my drivers installed for my mobo except for the AMD RAID/AHCI Controller drivers, without it my SATA devices (4x 1TB drives, 1x DVD-RW) all show up as removable devices and don't function properly, they act like external devices, spin down when not in use and even turn off at times or remove themselfs from the system. I just burned a DVD-R at 18x on 20x media and it took well over an hour!
When accessing drives other than the system primary drive there's a lag of about 10-20sec as they spinup. My mobo is an Asus M3A AM2/AM2+ board. I tried installing the drivers from the site and it won't allow me, even when I change the compatbility mode. It refuses to install and just gives me an 'Installation failed.' Does anyone know how to force those drivers to install?
Download drivers for AMD SATA Controller controller, or download DriverPack Solution software for automatic driver download and update.
I'd really appreciate the help. Have you tried installing the driver through Device Manager?
Roland Dyens also made some jazz orientated albums, like Nuages and Night and Day; and that's the album now playing in my CD-player. Night and Day, released in 2003, is a solo album, featuring 10 tracks - most jazz standards. Andrey Shilov plays 'NUAGES' by Django Reinhardt. It was recorded during his concert tour through Germany in Hattingen by Dietmar Fritze. Roland Dyens has continued to pursue the roland dyens nuages calling of pedagogue and performer, and is widely recognized as a consumate interpreter, arranger, composer and improvisational artist who has a rare ability to share his musical insights roland dyens nuages performance skills with students. Using 7-zip to extract the files from the installer ASUS provides and then try installing the RAID controller that way. The other thing you may need to do is to reinstall Windows 7 with the RAID driver present from the start. There should be RAID drivers available on ASUS' website.
It will be an.exe. You'll need a floppy disc or a USB thumb drive for this. When selecting the partition to install on, there should be a button to add a driver, select it and then select the location you've put the driver on. I have the driver.sys/.inf/.cat files for the drivers but I don't what/where to install in Device Manager, I don't know what tree to go under and force the install as there's no AHCI/RAID tree listed. If you wouldn't mind assisting I'd appreciate the help So there's no branch for 'Storgae Controller' and there's no yellow exclamation points on any unknown hardware?
If not, I can only assume that the it must be disabled in the BIOS somehow. Usually device manager will see anything enabled in the BIOS. If it's doesn't know what it is, that results in the yellow exclamation point. I'm not familiar with Windows 7 yet, but generally speaking if you do something like I did with XP to get AHCI/RAID installed it should work.
Back up your C: drive first. Stick all the AHCI.sys/.inf etc files in a HD folder, then go to Device Manager and go to update the IDE controller driver currently used for the HD, but don't let it search (important), just tell it where the folder is.
I had to let it show ALL rather than just the compatible devices, choose the AHCI driver that suits your motherboard even though it may say it's incompatible (true at present). Reboot and go into the BIOS to make the AHCI drivers compatible, i.e. Enable AHCI instead of probably the current IDE compatible mode. Continue into Windows and it should find new hardware, reboot again and it should all work with no yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager and the AHCI controller should show up instead of the old one.
Download and Installation Instructions • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding. • Download the EP.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference). • Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the EP.exe file to begin the installation. • At the 'User Account Control' screen, click 'Yes'.
• At the 'AMD SATA Controller' screen, click 'Next'. • At the 'License Agreement' dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click 'I Agree' to continue with the installation. • At the 'Finish' screen, click 'Finish'. • Restart the computer. After the computer restarts, the installation of the AMD SATA Controller Driver is complete.
